DISTINCTIVE BEAUTY Teak, a close-grained and oil rich hardwood is especially stable in its recycled form after being used for decades and is therefore an ideal material to produce long lasting furniture pieces. Unlike plantation teak, recycled teak has a truly unique character with each piece having specific variations. Color differences, knots and small cracks are the result of the natural growth of the trees and long periods of air drying; holes are left where nails or bolts were used. Each piece of MAMAGREEN furniture has its own natural and cultural history.

AN ECO-FRIENDLY SOURCE
Teak was used for centuries as a common and extremely durable building material on the island of Java after its introduction into the Indonesian archipelago during colonial times. Thus, many sheds and buildings, neglected and no longer in use, especially in the countryside, are still to be found scattered around the island. Furthermore, many old warehouses and other industrial facilities are being replaced by brick and mortar constructions. Re-using the tough teak from these dated structures is MAMAGREEN's eco-friendly alternative to felling rainforest hardwood trees and so helps to protect on the of the world's most fragile environments.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is the most prestigious and exacting of the world bodies established to ensure that the world's forests are harvested in an ecologically sustainable manner. Founded in 1993 and based in Bonn, Germany, the FSC is the world's leading standards setter in the protection of forests and is independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit. To be granted FSC certification, as MAMAGREEN was in mid-2009 for its recycled teak pieces, is an achievement of great significance. It shows that the company has been thoroughly audited in its production processes and its staff thoroughly trained in the detailed and rigorous steps that are necessary to show that every piece of MAMAGREEN teak furniture is using only recycled teak from genuinely reliable sources.
NATURAL MATERIAL - MODERN MANUFACTURING
It is MAMAGREEN's aim to produce outdoor furniture that can withstand extreme weather conditions. The first important step is the selection and hand grading of the wooden pieces reclaimed from the old constructions. Only the best parts are used to ensure no further manufacturing problems. Next comes cleaning of the wood and removal of all metal parts, followed by a further grading. The third step is kiln drying, shaping and laminating the wooden component. Highly skilled workers manually produce the rough-smooth finish that gives our teak furniture that special tactility and enhances the unique character of our furniture pieces. Finally, the assembly and packing staff prepare the furniture for delivery.
EASY MAINTENANCE
Inside your home, do not place recycled teak furniture in extremely dry conditions especially near heating installations. Outdoors the honey-brown color gets a silver-grey patina. Regular cleaning with a hard brush and soapy water is necessary to prevent dirt from settling on the surface. A Number of products are marketed for the purposes of cleaning of renovating the surface of teak furniture, but check with Yard Art to ensure that the product you plan to use is suitable for the task.
