Stainless Steel |
|
Highly resistant to staining and corrosion, stainless steel is a ferrous alloy often used when things in our everyday world look better with a surface of shimmering beauty. The addition of chromium to the steel causes the formation of an invisible chrome layer on the outer body of the steel allowing the lustrous nature of the steel to shine through undimmed. This is impervious to air and water and the underlying steel remains protected from all, bar major intrusions. The chromium layer will quickly reform if the metal suffers minor scratching. Stainless Steel 304, is the most commonly used alloy of this attractive metal, being the type MAMAGREEN uses in its furniture pieces.

Two surface finishes are used in MAMAGREEN pieces : brushed(the standard finish) or bead-blasted(on request). The brushed finish produces a semi-gloss shine whereas the bead-blasted finish has a more textured effect which protects from fingerprints. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, stainless steel is 100% recyclable. More than half of the stainless steel sold today is in fact made largely from recycled material.
As well as having a contemporary appearance, stainless steel is strong, durable and easy to maintain. Exposure to salty air can cause minor superficial corrosion caused by microscopic rests of polishing tools. Regular maintenance with an approved cleaning pad, stainless steel cleaner and polisher is advised. If unsure of cleaning materials to be used, consult with Yard Art first. Avoid the use of scrubbers like steel-wool, which may contain overly abrasive metal parts.
