Rustic Rope Terracotta Set

The Tai Planters draw attention through horizontal rope patterning and a natural rustic finish that gives the set a textured, handcrafted look. Made from terracotta, these round containers bring Asian-inspired detail to planting arrangements while keeping the overall shape simple and adaptable. This set includes two sizes: 26.5 inches in diameter by 25.5 inches high at 110 pounds, and 17.75 inches in diameter by 23 inches high at 71 pounds. The terracotta construction connects the set to other handcrafted terracotta planters, while the drainage-friendly form works well among outdoor garden planters for herbs, flowers, small shrubs, or ferns.

For related terracotta accents, the Thea Planter offers a rounded vessel with a softer surface, the Mai Planter brings another Asian-inspired profile, and the Kon Tum Planter adds a bolder textured option.

Glazed and terra cotta planters are hand-made from natural clay using traditional artisanal techniques and high-fired at temperatures between 990-1000 degrees centigrade to ensure frost resistance and durability. Glazed planters are coated with natural glazing elements that are baked onto the surface to enhance the product’s resistance to weathering.

Highlights

Highlights

The artisanal process and traditional kilns used to manufacture our handmade and hand-glazed containers create planters of unique beauty and character. This traditional craftsmanship offers a rich variety of textures, colors and finishes which will enhance any contemporary or traditional design project. Additionally, most of our outdoor glazed pottery can be used in the design of custom water features. For quality control, these natural clay planters are rigorously tested in freeze-thaw conditions. Our Glazed and Terra Cotta pottery is appropriate for use indoors and outdoors with proper planting and care in regions where freeze-thaw cycles exist.

Care & Maintenance

Care & Maintenance

Terra Cotta planters can be cleaned with mild soapy water. Spray down the surface of the planter where it is dirty and use a lint-free cloth, soft bristle brush or sponge to wipe the surface. Note that it may take several cycles of wiping and drying before the planter is completely clean. Do not pressure wash, use alcohol based cleaners, apply corrosive cleaners or clean with anything abrasive.

There is no such thing as a 100% frost-proof planter. The freeze-thaw cycles that occur in winter will cause any water in the container to freeze and expand which may cause the container to crack. It is best to store the item in a dry place out of the elements. Our Glazed and Terra Cotta planters are equipped with pre-installed drainage holes to allow for drainage. The drain holes must be kept clear to maintain the longevity of your planter, especially in climates that undergo freeze thaw cycles in the winter. If you are unable to bring a planter out of the elements: We recommend covering the drain holes with a mesh screen or equivalent to keep debris from clogging the openings; Filling the bottom of the planter with non-porous drainage material; Filling the remainder of the planter with a well-draining soil mix that will not retain water; and lastly, covering the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark to the top rim of the planter to discourage water from pooling on the surface.
